Strength for Today Counseling and Consulting

Therapy for Individuals, Couples, Families, and Groups

During one’s life, we all face times that are challenging and may seem overwhelming.  Whether you are seeking help to identify options you have, changes you must make, or acceptance that is needed, know there are people who can help and places which can assist you in discovering the answers you seek.

As a solution-focused therapist using person-centered approaches and cognitive-behavioral techniques, I can help you work to prune away negative perceptions that may be preventing your growth and recognize the potential you have to live a fulfilling and meaningful life.  While you can’t change your past, you can learn to see the present and future as  promising.

My company logo has the oak tree with dandelions beneath it.  Both of these symbols have special meaning.  The oak tree represents strength, endurance, and faith.  Although not fast growing, the oak grows steadily upward. Smaller than the oak, yet just as important, are the dandelions.  Some may consider them weeds, but dandelions represent healing, survival, and wishes fulfillment.  So although you may be struggling today, know that with faith you can learn to be patient and strong while diligent in working towards your goals.

Therapy for some involves the need to look at the very roots of pain and suffering.  For others, it includes learning to prune unhealthy parts to enable better growth.  Then there are those whose growth is stunted, perhaps due to lack of nourishment or a toxic environment.    A few may just need a new perspective to appreciate the beauty already there.

Although our faith, family, and friends are sources of support, if you are looking for extra guidance on your journey to growth and well-being, know I am here to help you discover strength for today and courage you may need to face tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Melinda Jewell, MSE, LPC, NCC, BC-TMH
